Framlingham Community Radio

A community radio station has got to be good idea; it would foster a sense of community and should there be some calamity where our somewhat remote town looses its electricity supply (it could happen, remember the gas last year?) it would become an invaluable way of spreading information to your battery powered radio.

There is now an opportunity to apply for a community radio station licence for Fram. The licences are for non-profit stations but do allow advertising which would cover up to 50 percent of the operating costs with the rest from grants.  The start up costs are a lot less than you would think thanks to, yes, computers.

The idea is everybody participates but a useful person already involved is Aaron Taffera; he started in radio in 1983 and has owned and run his own station in the USA.

Time is short as the license deadline is 18 November so discuss it on the NearTheCoast bulletin board or email us at weliketheidea@framradio.com
